It started at a Women's Networking event. I found myself in conversation with someone who had just gotten engaged, and what should have been an excited retelling of a beautiful moment quickly turned into something else entirely.
She told me about the ring. Not with joy, but with a complicated mix of emotions. She loved her partner. She was thrilled to be engaged. But the ring — the ring wasn't right. And she felt guilty for even thinking about it.
That conversation opened a door. I started asking around, and the stories poured in. Partners who didn't listen. Styles that looked different in person than online. Rings that caught on everything. Regret that lingered years after the proposal.
